He is a fellow in the American College of Cardiology and the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Intervention. He is an invited member of the International Andreas Gruentzig Society which meets to discuss the current state of cardiovascular intervention and then publishes recommendations for the direction of research in in the field. He also holds positions in local hospital and national organization governing committees.In 2007, Dr. Thompson joined the CIS team as an interventional cardiologist in Zachary.
