Overview

"My practice in pediatric urologist focuses on treating children with congenital defects and illnesses that involved the kidney, bladder and genitalia. As a father, I understand that it can be quite scary when a child is sick or born with problems. Therefore, it is my goal to serve both the child and the parents to provide a reliable partner who can be counted on for clear information and help. Children receive the best care possible when their doctor and parents form a knowledgeable team that works together. I offer considerable medical expertise but rely on parents who are the ""world's experts"" regarding their own individual child. While nobody wants their child to need a medical/surgical specialist, I find that when we all work for the interest of the patient, we obtain the best results and sometimes even have fun doing it. In addition to my medical practice, I run an NIH funded laboratory that is dedicated to solving urinary problems in children. My background as a basic scientist allows me to insure that my patients are always receiving the most modern and effective treatment available. Often, my patients and their families inspire new ideas for how we treat problems now and in the future!".

I treat children with disorders of the kidneys, bladder, ureters, and genitalia. My particular specialties are treating children with urologic cancer, disorders of sex differentiation, complex birth defects, hypospadias, kidney stones, bladder/bowel dysfunction and incontinence, and spina bifida. My top priority is to find the most effective and least invasive treatment option for every child and every family I see. I have advanced fellowship training in robotic and minimally-invasive surgery, so I am able to offer this option to children who might benefit from a less-invasive surgery. I am a member of the American Urological Association, the Society for Pediatric Urology, the Society for Fetal Urology, and the Children's Oncology Group. Dr. Routh is rated as a Distinguished provider by MediFind in the treatment of Congenital Bilateral Absence of the Vas Deferens. His top areas of expertise are Neurogenic Bowel, Neurogenic Bladder, Pelvic Floor Dysfunction, Lithotripsy, and Ureteroscopy.
