Dr. Sundhar Ramalingam
Overview
I mainly treat patients with genitourinary cancers including prostate, kidney, bladder, testicular and penile cancer. My goal is to be attentive and devoted to my patients who are often dealing with complicated health problems. I try to personalize my care because every patient is different. I believe the future is promising because new treatments are being discovered every day. I am involved in clinical trials done through Duke University. Clinical trials are designed to provide patients with access to the newest possible treatments. I am also part of our multi-disciplinary cancer team including urologic oncologists, geneticists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, and other specialists. I grew up in Cary and did all of my medical training in the Research Triangle Park area. I feel honored to practice in the same community I have lived in for more than twenty-five years.

I am a medical oncologist specializing in bone and soft tissue cancers called sarcomas. Sarcomas occur throughout the body, so I collaborate closely with colleagues from other specialties in a multidisciplinary team. I view my role in caring for someone's cancer as as privilege and strive to work together with each patient to ensure the best treatment decisions are made, all the while embracing each person's uniqueness as an individual. I see adult patients of all ages, but have a particular interest in the unique challenges facing a young adults with cancer. When I'm not working, you can find me exploring the outdoors with my family, traveling, and cooking. Dr. Grilley is rated as a Distinguished provider by MediFind in the treatment of Ewing Sarcoma. My focus is on treating patients with advanced melanoma, as well as melanoma that is at high risk for recurrence after surgery. We also treat patients with merkel cell carcinoma and advanced basal cell and cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma.
