A Colorado native, he graduated from Overland High School in Aurora where he was awarded the Bausch & Lomb Science Award for his “Excellent Promise in the Field of Science.” He went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in molecular biology from the University of Denver and graduated Cum Laude. He then attended the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical School where he received the William Winter MD Award for his “Outstanding Performance in Orthopedic Surgery” as a senior medical student.
