Summary: The visual prognosis of optic neuritis not related to multiple sclerosis is unknown, both in terms of functional recovery and evolution. This prospective cohort study aim to assess the ophthalmological evolution of patients presenting an episode of optic neuritis (NO) not related to a multiple sclerosis or to a clinically isolated syndrome.
Summary: Objective of the trial is to describe the efficacy and safety of satralizumab in patients with aquaporin-4 (AQP4) antibody seropositive NMOSD, either treatment naive or inadequate responders to previous treatment with rituximab (RTX) (or its biosimilar)
Summary: This phase II trial studies the side effects and how well carmustine, etoposide, cytarabine and melphalan together with antithymocyte globulin before a peripheral blood stem cell transplant works in treating patients with autoimmune neurologic disease that did not respond to previous therapy. In autoimmune neurological diseases, the patient's own immune system 'attacks' the nervous system which mi...
Summary: A Phase 2, open-label, multicenter study to evaluate the pharmacokinetics (PK), pharmacodynamics (PD), and safety of inebilizumab in eligible pediatric participants 2 to < 18 years of age with recently active neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) who are seropositive for autoantibodies against aquaporin-4 (AQP4-immunoglobulin [Ig]G).
Summary: This study will primarily evaluate the pharmacokinetics of satralizumab in pediatric patients aged 2-11 years with anti-aquaporin-4 (AQP4) antibody seropositive neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD). Efficacy, safety, tolerability, and pharmacodynamics will be evaluated in a descriptive manner, given the small number of patients who will be enrolled in this study.
Summary: This study is being conducted to investigate risk factors for disability progression in Multiple Sclerosis and related disorders (MSRD). The primary goal is to assess whether combining information from visual assessment, blood markers, as well as historical and ongoing longitudinal MRIs of the brain, orbit (the part of the skull where eyes are located), and/or spinal cord can predict changes in qu...
Summary: Edaravone showed a good effect on promoting remyelination and protecting axons in NMOSD animals. The investigators hypothesize that edaravone can inhibit axonal damage in patients with aquaporin-4 antibody-positive optic neuritis.
Summary: The main purpose of this study is to assess clemastine as a remyelinating agent in patients with acute optic neuritis. The study will also evaluate the tolerability of clemastine, originally approved as first-generation antihistamine, in patients with optic neuritis. Study procedures will include assessments for evidence of remyelination in the anterior visual pathway and in the brain using electro...
Summary: The influence of pregnancy on the course of multiple sclerosis (MS) has long been a controversial topic. After the publication of the first large prospective study of pregnancy and MS in 1998, counselling of women with MS has radically changed and many patients have been able to fulfill their desire of motherhood. However, there are still some challenges for the neurologist, who has to face old un...
Summary: In neuroinflammatory diseases of the central nervous system (CNS) such as multiple sclerosis (MS), neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (NMOSD) and anti-MOG antibody-associated disorders (MOGAD), neuronal degeneration is the consequence of inflammatory and demyelinating lesions in the brain, optic nerve and spinal cord. Both white and grey matter are systematically affected. Lesions of the peri...
Summary: Antibody-mediated idiopathic inflammatory diseases of the nervous system (also known as autoimmune diseases of the nervous system) are autoimmune diseases in which autoimmune cells and immune molecules attack the nervous system as the main pathogenic mechanism. In the immune response, pathogenic antibodies acting on autoantigens of the nervous system are collectively referred to as autoantibodies ...
