Summary: While there are several completed clinical trials that address treatment strategy in patients with symptomatic and recurrent AF, there are no randomized clinical trials that address treatment for first-detected AF. In usual care, these patients are started on an atrioventricular nodal blocking agent (beta-blocker or non-dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker) along with stroke prevention therapy....
Summary: The principal purpose of this investigator-initiated trial is to study the use of the CardiaMend device soaked in the anti-arrhythmic drug amiodarone, and how it may decrease the development of atrial fibrillation in patients that have undergone a coronary artery bypass surgery, or isolated valve surgery.
Summary: Patients who have undergone cardiac ablation will be randomized and blinded to one of two groups; one group will receive dronedarone while the other group will receive a placebo. The incidence of atrial fibrillation recurrence, as well as atrial fibrosis progression, will be analyzed between the two trial groups.
