I have wanted to be a pediatrician since I was a little girl. Interacting with children and their families, watching kids grow and making them well again are what I most value as a doctor. My personal philosophy is to always consider the whole person and to treat the patient, not the illness. I believe that parents have invaluable knowledge concerning their children and can offer great insight into what works best for them. My husband is an elementary school teacher, and we have three boys. Outside of work, I enjoy photography, hiking, biking and playing with my kids. In medical school, I was fortunate to do international mission work and hope to volunteer again as my kids grow. I am also interested in wellness promotion, including obesity prevention, promoting and supporting breastfeeding, and child abuse prevention. Dr. Terry is rated as an Experienced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Viral Gastroenteritis. She is also highly rated in 3 other conditions, according to our data. Her clinical expertise encompasses Delayed Growth, Obesity in Children, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Asthma in Children. Dr. Terry is board certified in American Board Of Pediatrics.

I will never forget my Aunt Mary. When I was eight years old she was about 14 and she was a big dancer. She started having trouble walking and dancing and it turned out to be due to a complication from measles. By the time she was 15, she was wheelchair-bound and tube-fed and my grandmother was taking care of her. She died eight years later from a complication of pneumonia. During the years she was sick, I helped take care of her when I visited and that’s when I decided I was going to be a nurse. My dad asked me, “Why don’t you be a doctor?” So, while I was in high school I did some rotations in pediatrics offices. Then after high school I signed on with the Air Force, and I became a doctor. When I was deciding on my specialty, I knew I would work with kids - never even thought about adult medicine. One of the things that’s unique to pediatrics is that we can’t listen to many of our patients because they’re non-verbal. Even if they can talk it’s difficult for kids to characterize pain and that sort of thing. So it’s important to listen to the parents. They obviously know their child best. Another thing that’s different from adult medicine is that when a kid is sick they have to be seen that day. You can’t wait three weeks for an appointment. That’s the reason we have both a night-time and a weekend clinic. It’s convenient for working parents, too. I am particularly interested in childhood obesity. With the high rate of obesity here in Tennessee obesity is common in many of our patients. I also think every kid should have their own doctor – someone who they know well enough to say, “Hi Dr. Marlow!” when they see me in Walmart. When I’m not treating patients, I love to run and to work out. Our family also likes to hike. And I’m a big University of Florida fan (Go ‘Gators!). That’s where I went to undergrad and medical school. When my husband and I both retired from the Air Force we decided to settle here even though we didn’t have any ties to the area. The weather is good, it’s really pretty, the town is not too small or too big and the people are very friendly. It’s been a good fit for our family. Dr. Marlow is rated as an Experienced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Viral Gastroenteritis. She is also highly rated in 2 other conditions, according to our data. Her clinical expertise encompasses Obesity in Children, Croup, Viral Gastroenteritis, and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Dr. Marlow is board certified in American Board Of Pediatrics.

Dr. Anjali Malkani’s journey into healthcare was inspired by her mother, a physician in India. “As a child, I would often accompany her on house calls to visit sick children,” Dr. Malkani recalls. “Witnessing the parents’ gratitude as their child recovered and observing the child’s health improve during follow-up visits was truly heartwarming.” Born in Chicago and raised in India, Dr. Malkani loves the Appalachian Highlands for its slower pace of living and natural beauty. As an ETSU Health clinician, Dr. Malkani also serves as a faculty member at ETSU's Quillen College of Medicine. Outer of her medical practice, she enjoys walking, playing pickle ball, reading, traveling and exploring local waterfalls. What is the definition of Viral Gastroenteritis?

Viral gastroenteritis is an infection of the stomach and intestine caused by a virus. The infection can lead to diarrhea and vomiting. It is sometimes called the "stomach flu."

When should I see a Viral Gastroenteritis doctor near Springfield, TN?

There are various reasons why you may want to see a specialist, such as:

    • Your primary care provider recommends it.
    • Your condition requires expert knowledge and specialized care.
    • Your symptoms persist or worsen despite treatment.
    • You need specialized testing or procedures.
    • You want a second opinion.

What should I consider when choosing a Viral Gastroenteritis doctor near Springfield, TN?

It’s important to see a provider with expertise in your specific condition. Each provider profile in MediFind’s doctor database includes information on which conditions they treat, years of experience, research contributions, languages spoken, insurance plans accepted, and more.

How does MediFind rank Viral Gastroenteritis doctors near Springfield, TN?

MediFind’s rankings are based on a variety of data sources, such as the number of articles a doctor has published in medical journals, participation in clinical trials and industry conferences, as well as the number of patients that provider sees for a given condition. Note that MediFind’s provider database is not based on user reviews, and providers do not pay to be included in the database.

What types of insurance are accepted by Viral Gastroenteritis doctors near Springfield, TN?

Most profiles in MediFind’s doctor database include a list of insurance plans accepted by that provider. However, it’s a good idea to contact the provider’s office to make sure they still accept your insurance, then doublecheck by contacting your insurance plan to confirm they’re in network.

How can I book an appointment online with a Viral Gastroenteritis doctor near Springfield, TN?

MediFind offers direct scheduling for certain providers using the “Request Appointment” button on that provider’s profile. If the schedule option is not available for a provider, tap the red “Show Phone Number” button on their profile to get their contact information. If you prefer to find providers who offer online scheduling, select “Schedules online” under the “Availability” category of the filter feature on the left side of the Viral Gastroenteritis doctor search results page.

Why is it important to get a second opinion from a different Viral Gastroenteritis doctor?

Second opinions are an opportunity to confirm a diagnosis and its root cause, learn about alternative treatment options, or simply gain peace of mind. Many people, especially those with serious diagnoses, get second opinions so they can understand all their options and make informed decisions, so don’t hesitate to get one if you have any doubts or need more information or clarification regarding your care. Note that some insurance plans require second opinions, while others don’t cover second opinions, so be sure to confirm with your insurance provider first.

How can I prepare for my appointment with a Viral Gastroenteritis doctor near Springfield, TN?

Prepare for your appointment by gathering the following items:

    • Copies of medical records (dating back at least one year)
    • Your medical history, including illnesses, medical conditions, surgeries, and other doctors you see
    • Family history of disease
    • List of current prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal remedies or supplements including names and doses
    • Allergies to medications, food, latex, insects, etc.
    • List of questions and concerns
    • Your insurance card

You might also contact the provider’s office to see if they offer transportation or childcare services or if you’re allowed to bring a loved one for support or to take notes during your visit.

What questions should I ask my Viral Gastroenteritis doctor?

    Here are some sample questions:

    • Can you explain in simple terms what this condition is and how it’s treated?
    • What symptoms or side effects should I watch for?
    • What tests will be involved, and when can I expect results?
    • Are there other specialists I need to see?
    • What’s the best way to reach you if I have follow-up questions?

How can I learn about the latest clinical trials and research advances my Viral Gastroenteritis doctor may know about?

MediFind’s Clinical Trials tool asks you a series of questions to help you narrow down your search by health condition, age, gender, location, how far you’re willing to travel, and more. Each question you answer filters down the number of trials until you find the ones that are most relevant to you.

MediFind’s Latest Advances tool features summaries of recent articles published in medical journals. We use cutting-edge technology to scour medical publication databases for the latest research advancements on any given condition, then we simplify this information in a way that’s useful and easy to understand.

Can I filter my search to show male or female Viral Gastroenteritis doctors near Springfield, TN?

Look for the filter feature on the left side of the Viral Gastroenteritis doctor search results page. Select “Female” or “Male” under the “Gender” category to search for female or male providers exclusively. If the “Any” option is selected, it will pull results for both male and female providers.

Can I filter my search to find a Viral Gastroenteritis doctor that offers video calls?

Look for the filter feature on the left-side of the Viral Gastroenteritis doctor search results page. Select “Offers telehealth visits” under the Availability category to search for providers who offer virtual appointments (video calls).
