I specialize in treating patients with all types of foot and ankle problems. Whether it's a simple ankle sprain or a complex foot/ankle reconstruction, I take pride in providing my patients with the expertise and resources here at Duke University but with the availability and convenience of a community-based setting. I enjoy treating patients of all ages with the goal of getting them back to their full activity as quickly and safely as possible. Most importantly, I believe in educating my patients about their issues, allowing them to better understand their health, how it affects their overall well-being, and providing them with the knowledge to become an integral part of their own healing process. Although some patients may require surgery, I try my best to maximize non-surgical treatment, knowing how much of an impact these decisions will have on someone's day-to-day life.

Patients come to see me for a variety of kinds of conditions. That's one of the reasons I went into foot and ankle surgery. When it comes to treating patients, I try to exhaust all the non-surgical options first, because surgery can really intrude on someone's lifestyle. My passion is being able to reconstruct somebody’s foot when they can’t currently walk on it and allowing them to walk again. One patient story that stands out in my mind is of a woman who was involved in a car accident and broke her leg and several of the bones in her foot, and who lost some of those bones at the scene of the accident. She had seen several other providers, and they recommended amputation. When I saw her, I decided she would be a candidate for the new, 3-D printed technology, and I was able to do a 3-D bone implant, and now she's walking again. We were able to save her leg.
