Dr. Max Lingamfelter is an orthopedic surgeon board certified in orthopedic surgery specializing in hip and knee reconstruction (total joint replacement). He joined Inova in 2024 and has been practicing since 2015. Prior to joining Inova, Dr. Lingamfelter was an adult joint reconstruction surgeon at Kaiser Permanente, Mid-Atlantic. Dr. Lingamfelter’s clinical areas of interest include robotic joint replacement and direct anterior hip replacement, as well as complex and challenging revision cases. He enjoys working together with patients who are motivated by the desire to rebuild their mobility and independence after arthritis has eroded their quality of life. His patient care philosophy is based around a team approach, including all perspectives, that aims to help patients make a decision that is best for them individually, as they know their body best. Dr. Lingamfelter’s goal is to make patients feel comfortable and to help them evaluate and understand their personal circumstances, so they can make an informed decision about which course of treatment is right for them. Dr. Lingamfelter attained additional training through a prestigious reconstruction fellowship while at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. This training involved the most up-to-date and advanced skills in primary joint replacement surgery such as partial knee replacement (unicompartmental and patellofemoral replacements), direct anterior hip replacement, and robotic assisted total joint reconstruction. He provides care for patients with the most complex and challenging total joint problems: post-traumatic arthritis, prior deformity, infections, fractures and failed prior replacement. During his orthopedic surgical residency at Rowan University – Inspira Health Network campus, he gained extensive experience working alongside surgeons at the renowned Rothman Total Joint Institute. He received his doctorate from the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, TX. During his undergraduate studies at the University of Houston, he received the distinction of cum laude for his research contributions in the field of biomedical engineering. Dr. Max (as he is known in the clinic) has published many papers and given many lectures on the most up-to-date techniques in joint replacement surgery within the orthopedic community. In his spare time, he enjoys going on long hikes with his children, exercising, woodworking and music.
His clinical expertise encompasses Osteoarthritis, Pigmented Villonodular Synovitis, Synovitis, Osteonecrosis, and Knee Replacement.
He is actively involved in clinical research, co-authoring 4 peer reviewed articles.
