Dr. Rattay wanted to be a physician since he was very young. He was fascinated by the anatomy of bones, muscles, joints, tendons and nerves. He enjoys the diagnostic process and having the ability to dramatically change a patient’s life. He also enjoys the interactions with patients and the fact that so many of the most complex hand and wrist problems are referred to him.He looks at every patient without preconceived impressions or prejudice. He tries to relate to each individual. Dr. Rattay is from Mason City, so he tries to connect with each patient in some way personally. He tries to sense their emotional needs and direct his words and actions to help them feel more comfortable. His ultimate goal is to affect their lives in a positive way – relieving their pain while improving their function and quality of life.
