As a child, Dr. Deneene Booth watched her father take cars apart and put them back together, making comparisons between the mechanical parts and human anatomy all the while. She knew from the age of five that she wanted to go into medicine. When patients come to Dr. Booth, they can be in pain for any number of reasons – from osteoarthritis to chemotherapy-related discomfort – but she knows the best treatment plans involve listening. Taking patients’ personal beliefs into consideration also plays a part in what treatment they’re most likely to adopt. She also finds that listening in itself is treatment for some.
