Overview
I was drawn to geriatrics because I enjoy working with people, exploring complex medical issues, and developing a plan with a team to address concerns. I find my relationships with patients and families to be the most rewarding aspect of what I do. Like many in my field, my particular interest in geriatrics was inspired by my close relationship with an older loved one – in my case, my grandmother. Through caring for her and my additional training in geriatrics, I came to appreciate the challenges common to many patients and families. In my work, I strive to honor patients' wishes and prioritize quality of life. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and son, hiking, traveling, and watching sports (Go Heels!). I am from Durham and love discovering hidden gems and new places in the area.

My goal is to evaluate patients as accurately as possible and determine the cause of problems with memory or thinking. I may order tests to help achieve this goal. Together, we will begin a treatment plan. Part of the plan may be starting a medication, entering a clinical trial, or participating in a research study. I am dedicated to developing, discovering, and using the latest health-related advances to evaluate, diagnose, and treat dementia. My mission is to provide patients the opportunity to participate in research and partner with us in discovering and understanding what causes changes to memory and thinking.
