Overview
Tara Loux, MD, is a double board-certified general surgeon specializing in pediatric surgery. She performs a variety of surgical procedures for children including hernia repair, appendectomy and treatment for abscesses. She also provides pediatric cancer care including removing solid tumors and central line placement.|“I love my young patients,” she says. “It's impossible to keep them down for long. She followed this with a residency in general surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and a fellowship in pediatric surgery at Miami Children’s Hospital.|Dr. Loux is a third-generation physician. “Service in healthcare has been in my family for a long time,” she says. “I was naturally inclined to it. Surgery has always fulfilled my desire for quick decision‐making and action, and I absolutely love being able to take care of the youngest patients.”|She is an active member of several professional organization including the American College of Surgeons, American Pediatric Surgical Association and Pediatric Trauma Society. She’s a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.|Dr. Loux has published several papers and participated in many research projects.|In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, biking, swimming, playing piano, singing, reading, writing, entertaining and spending time with her family.
