Dr. Pappas holds a B.A. from Bucknell University and earned his Medical Degree from George Washington University in 1989. Following his Ophthalmology Residency at the Washington Hospital Center, he pursued and completed his Clinical Fellowship training in Vitreoretinal diseases and surgery at the Retina Institute of Maryland (now known as the National Retina Institute) in Baltimore, MD, where he performed clinical research and participated in landmark clinical trials investigating both medical and surgical retinal treatments. Upon completion of his training in 1995, Dr. Pappas joined his father, one of the first fellowship-trained retina specialists in the Washington, D.C. area, in private group practice in Bethesda. In 2001, Dr. Pappas founded the Center for Retinal Diseases and Surgery, LLC, where he continues the tradition of personalized, compassionate retinal care established by his father nearly 50 years ago. Dr. Pappas is married with two children and resides in Montgomery County where he also serves as a trustee for two non-profit organizations.
