"To this day, a poster I wrote when I was 5 years old hangs in my childhood bedroom. It says, ""When I grow up I want to be a doctor."" As a child, my little sister had severe asthma. My first memories of health care are sitting with her in the ER while she did her nebulizer treatments and watching her do them several times a day at home. I was always very protective of her and her experience gave me the desire to become a doctor. During my family medicine residency, I fell in love with the fast-paced, spontaneous environment of urgent care. I enjoy urgent care because every day is unique and I have the ability to treat a wide variety of disease processes. I truly love practicing medicine. Prior to joining Duke Health, I practiced in the urgent care department of a hospital-owned system for five years, three of which I served as the associate medical director for urgent care. When I'm not at work, I'm outside enjoying nature and chasing my three children around.".
