Overview
I am a child and adolescent neurologist who specializes in epilepsy. This interest developed early on in my training. I also found I enjoyed working with children around the same time. I am originally from Ohio but have moved frequently throughout my life. I have been in North Carolina since 2003 and love it. I have three children and two step-children.

Clinical research consists of overseeing clinical studies of patients undergoing new treatments and therapies, and publishing articles in peer reviewed medical journals. Providers who actively participate in clinical research are generally at the forefront of the fields and aware of the most up-to-date advances in treatments for their patients.

I have been a faculty member at Duke for 30 years, specializing in the care of patients with epilepsy or sleep disorders. During that time, I have seen tremendous progress in the treatments available in both areas, and I remain excited about being able to provide those advances to my patients. I have also recently gained a personal perspective, having been diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea, and becoming a dedicated CPAP user myself. While I am very interested in helping influence this, there is something about people listening to people that cannot be duplicated.
