A veteran wound care specialist has joined the Ankle & Foot Centers of Georgia team of doctors, we welcome Dr. Bhavin Mehta. With a passion for treating the residents of Coweta and Meriwether Counties, Dr. Bhavin Mehta brings with him 10 years of experience. He earned his medical degree at New York College of Podiatry; finished his residency at Veteran's Administrative Medical Center in Boston and has completed a fellowship at the Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute of Rehabilitation. Jennifer Monaco, MD, FACFAS graduated from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine in New York, New York, with a doctorate in podiatric medicine. At the Level 1 Trauma Center Scripps Mercy Hospital and Kaiser Foundation Hospital in San Diego, California, she finished her residency in podiatric surgery. At Sinai Hospital's Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics in Baltimore, Maryland, Dr. Monaco finished a fellowship in limb lengthening and reconstruction. She then underwent an A.O. trauma fellowship at Inselspital University of Bern in Bern, Switzerland, after finishing her fellowship. Dr. Monaco has completed 11 medical missions leading about half of them, she has worked mostly in Kathmandu. She and her teams preform free foot and ankle reconstructive surgery. Dr. Monaco, who had previously worked in a private practice in San Diego, decided to give back to the community by taking a position as an assistant professor at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California, where she taught both academically and clinically. After that, she relocated to the East Coast where she worked for a private practice. She now is practicing in the Columbus area.Dr. Monaco is board-qualified in foot surgery and reconstructive rear-foot and ankle surgery with the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. She has also completed additional training with Healogics®, the nation's top wound care management firm, to become certified in advanced wound care and wound prevention for chronic illnesses.Dr. Monaco is welcoming new patients and accepts most insurance plans. Dr. Roman moved to the Atlanta area from Ohio after earning undergraduate degrees in Accounting and Biology from Kent State University and a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine. Upon completing his residency in advanced reconstructive foot and ankle surgery at Emory-Northlake Medical Center, he joined Ankle and Foot Centers of Georgia in 2006.Dr. Roman continues his commitment to the ongoing education and advancement of foot and ankle surgery with his active involvement in the local residency training program. He also lectures across the country as a faculty member and past chairman of The Podiatry Institute, a non-profit education foundation recognized internationally for its leading role in the advancement of podiatric medicine and surgery. He has made his personal contribution to surgical advancements in podiatric medicine through medical research and design, currently holding six patents in fixation and implantation devices.Residing with his family in the McDonough area, Dr. Roman gives back to his community by volunteering and providing care for those in need through the Hands of Hope Clinic, Inc.
