Overview
I am a native of Ohio but a Blue Devil since I graduated college from Duke University. I returned to my Buckeye roots for my medical training but was happy to return to North Carolina and join the Duke Eye Center. My practice is a comprehensive ophthalmology practice and I welcome all patients that are looking for thorough, efficient and thoughtful care for acute eye problems and early management of chronic eye diseases. My particular interest is in Cataract surgery and aim to provide my patients with the most up-to-date advancements in the fast-growing field, including premium lens implants and laser-assisted cataract surgery. I understand that eyesight is so highly valued by most of us and therefore I do my best to inform patients of all of their options, whether surgical or medical, and to help patients make the best decision for their eyes.

I feel very privileged to take care of patients at the Duke Eye Center. I believe that everyone deserves state-of-the art and compassionate eye care and strive to provide both to my patients. I particularly enjoy working with my patients to develop the plan of care that is tailored to their needs. Many of my patients have glaucoma or are at risk for glaucoma, although I also take care of people with general eye conditions such as cataract. My research focuses on helping patients with glaucoma self-manage their disease by improving patient educational materials, studying communication between patients and doctors, and developing a novel eyedrop bottle that helps patients instill their eyedrops correctly. My North Carolina roots run deep- originally from Charlotte, I am fortunate to have been educated both at UNC and Duke, my husband works at Duke and my three daughters were born in Duke Hospital.
