Dr. Frank J. Moya
Overview
I am a glaucoma specialist and an experienced cataract surgeon. I also specialize in the combined surgical treatment of cataracts and glaucoma. I’ve been at Duke for over 10 years. I view patient care as a team effort between the doctor and the patient. However, in order for patients to do their part well and get the best outcome possible, they need to understand what’s going on with their eyes and their treatment. To help, when I meet with patients I try and speak in simple terms about their eyes and treatments. I grew up in New Mexico, which helps when meeting with Spanish-speaking patients. My pediatrician had a very kind and compassionate approach to care, which inspired me to become a doctor. I decided to pursue eye surgery with a focus on glaucoma, because it gave me the chance to get to know my patients and use cutting-edge technology to help make them better.
