Dr. Matthew D. Mathias
Overview
My interest in becoming a family physician extends about as far back as I can recall. It was largely influenced by my mother, who worked in nursing for many years. I chose Jefferson Medical College for the strength of its leadership training program in Family Medicine. As a student and resident, I worked with different American Indian populations. I started my practice in central Pennsylvania. In 2005, I came to Triangle Family Practice. I consider active listening among the most important aspects of my job. I enjoy partnering with patients around what is best for their overall health given the latest in evidence-based medicine. I was medical director at Triangle Family Practice for five years, and continue to teach Duke medical students who are considering family medicine as a career. My wife and love the Triangle, call it our home, and we enjoy raising our two children here.
