Isolated hypogonadotropic hypogonadism is a rare inherited (genetic) deficiency of pituitary hormone and low sex steroids (follicle stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone ). These hormones are responsible for sexual reproduction.
What are the symptoms of Isolated Hypogonadotropic Hypogonadism?
Symptoms of isolated hypogonadotropic hypogonadism in males may include reduced sex drive and/or fertility, erectile dysfunction, decreased bone and muscle mass, and decreased testicular volume. Symptoms of isolated hypogonadotropic hypogonadism in females may include absent menstruation, sparse pubic hair, and underdeveloped breasts. Some individuals with isolated hypogonadotropic hypogonadism may also have an impaired sense of smell (anosmia), sensorineural deafness, lack of one or both kidneys, and defects of the midline of the body.
