Overview

Dr. Frank Mota is a fellowship-trained spine surgeon and proud native of New York City. He offers a comprehensive, patient-centered approach to spinal care, specializing in degenerative spine conditions and complex spinal deformities across all age groups.

Dr. Mota earned his B.S. in Biology from SUNY Albany, graduating Summa Cum Laude and receiving the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence. He went on to attend the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine, where he was honored with the Gold Humanism Award for compassionate care. He completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital, gaining a solid foundation in musculoskeletal and surgical care. He then pursued advanced fellowship training in Orthopaedic Spine Surgery at the University of Miami, where he trained alongside both orthopaedic and neurosurgical spine specialists. This dual exposure enhanced his expertise across a broad range of spinal conditions and surgical techniques.

Dr. Mota is deeply committed to evidence-based care and prioritizes non-operative treatment whenever appropriate. He works closely with each patient to explore conservative options before considering surgery. When surgery is needed, he offers advanced, minimally invasive techniques tailored to each individual's condition-promoting faster recovery and better outcomes.

Returning to Lenox Hill Hospital-where his medical journey began-Dr. Mota is honored to care for the New York City community he calls home. His practice is built on open communication, shared decision-making, and long-term support for patients navigating spinal disorders.

In addition to clinical care, Dr. Mota is passionate about advancing the field of spine surgery through research and continued education. His mission is to relieve pain, restore function, and improve quality of life with skilled, compassionate care.
