Dr. Archana Jayakumar
Overview
Archana Jayakumar, DO, is a fellowship-trained sleep specialist with Atlantic Medical Group. Board-certified in family medicine by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Medicine, she has clinical expertise treating patients with a wide variety of conditions that affect the quality of sleep and health, including obstructive and central sleep apnea, insomnia, REM sleep disorder, narcolepsy, and more.Dr. Jayakumar is trained to diagnose, treat, prevent and manage complications surrounding sleep, and treats patients with compassionate care to alleviate sleep disorders. Once the cause of the sleep disorder is diagnosed, she can treat the condition using personalized methods to restore wellness. She promotes a whole-body approach to wellness and is an advocate for educating patients on appropriate lifestyle, respiratory, pharmacologic or surgical interventions for their sleep pathology.After earning her doctor of osteopathic medicine degree at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, Erie, PA, Dr. Jayakumar performed her family medicine residency at Overlook Medical Center, Summit, NJ, and completed a fellowship in sleep medicine at the University of Southern California, including Keck Hospital of USC and Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. Prior to earning her osteopathic medicine degree, she earned a master’s degree in biological science, with a concentration in neuroscience, at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Newark, NJ.Dr. Jayakumar has extensive international volunteer experience, having served as a physician volunteer in Peru practicing in a rural clinic, in Cambodia where she assisted in a surgical intensive care unit treating traumatic brain injury patients, in Uganda working with obstetric patients and assisting multi-village immunization teams, and working in New York as an advocate for immigrant survivors of human rights abuses.The author of multiple publications in peer-reviewed medical journals, Dr. Jayakumar has also presented at national conferences. She is a participating provider of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization.
