Overview
Dr. Close is a board-certified fellowship-trained pediatric urologist with extensive clinical and surgical expertise in congenital and acquired genitourinary problems. Her practice focuses on providing a comforting, healing environment for the diagnosis and treatment of urologic conditions in children ranging from prenatal development to age eighteen. After completing her Pediatric Urology Fellowship at Seattle Children’s Hospital she worked in private practice and then served as Chief of Pediatric Urology at the University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital. She is internationally recognized for her research and writing on congenital bladder outlet obstruction and alternate methods of bladder augmentation. Her surgical expertise includes penile malformations- chordee and hypospadias, hydroceles, undescended testes, posterior urethral valves, vesicoureteral reflux and ureteroceles. Dr. Close has received a 5 star rating from US News and World report and was named Parent’s Top Choice because of her willingness to make time for patients, her ability to answer questions with clear explanations and the parents’ perception of patient outcomes. She is a member of The Society for Pediatric Urology, The European Society for Pediatric Urology, The American Academy of Pediatrics and The American College of Surgeons. Outside the hospital Dr. Close loves tennis, birding, and piano.
