Overview
Philosophy of care | I believe that physicians and their patients are partners that need to work together to promote health and wellness. My job is to educate my patients so that they fully understand why I make the recommendations I do, and also so that they are more comfortable and willing to take charge of their own health. In turn, I want my patients to be honest with me and openly share their concerns so that I can better understand their individual needs and so we can work together as a team. I want my office visits to be conversations. I am a people person and I want to get to know my patients and families on a personal level. I also want my patients to respect me as a person, too, and understand that I also go to doctor's visits and sometimes wait. I ask for patience when this happens at my office and know that I look forward to our visit together. | Why I entered medicine | I entered medicine because I have always had a passion to study and learn about the human body and mind. I have always had a desire to help patients and their families in times of both illness and health. This desire stemmed from growing up watching my grandfather, a very special family physician, care for and develop relationships with families for over 50 years. I was in awe that he was always a constant in the lives of so many families, and they counted on him and trusted him to guide them through some of their most challenging moments. I, too, wanted to have this type of relationship with patients, which is why I entered family medicine in particular. I wanted to care for patients and families of all ages, and continue to see them over the course of time, throughout all of the milestones in their lives - both good and bad. | Community involvement | I am a supporter of the Boys and Girls Club organization, and I recently ran a half marathon in the name of the American Cancer Society. Past involvement includes volunteering time to educate diabetic patients on their disease and teach them the importance of healthy diet and exercise, as well as organizing multiple fundraisers to support our troops overseas. | Personal interests | I most enjoy spending time with my husband and our families. I also love to run, read, and travel when time allows!.
