Henry Poston, NP

Nurse practitioner Poston serves in both family and urgent care, seeing patients ages 1 and up at Saint Joseph Medical Group – Express Care. He has been a caregiver since 2003. His areas of interest include hypertension, type 2 diabetes and weight control.In his approach to patient care, Poston said he continually keeps in mind “that patients know their bodies and most would not come into the clinic without good reason.” He demonstrates humankindness by listening to patients without interruption, allowing them to experience being seen and heard completely.When he was growing up, Poston saw his mother taking care of his blind grandmother, which inspired him to become a caregiver. “That showed me the value of how good care is given and how impactful it can be,” he said. He chose his specialty because, he said, “it allowed for a broad cast of opportunities to impact patient care in a diverse environment.”Poston holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Eastern Kentucky University and a master’s degree in nursing from University of Kentucky. He also assisted with congestive heart failure research during a graduate program at University of Louisville.Outside of work, he enjoys golf and traveling.
