Douglas Avella, MD, is a pediatric orthopedic surgeon with Atlantic Medical Group. Fellowship-trained in pediatric orthopedics and board-certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, he specializes in operative and nonoperative treatment of orthopedic conditions in children and teens, providing the highest quality of care for injuries and disorders of the musculoskeletal system.With more than 36 years of experience, Dr. Avella serves as the sports team and school physician for Bergen Catholic High School. In addition, he has led and participated in over 20 humanitarian medical missions to impoverished countries including Kenya, Ghana, Guatemala, Ecuador, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, and Thailand to deliver much-needed orthopedic care to children around the globe.Dr. Avella is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, a member of the American Orthopedic Association, a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America, and is a participating provider of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization.
