Dr. Matthew D. Barber

I am an Obstetrician and Gynecologist who specializes in urogynecology and pelvic reconstructive surgery. I am passionate about improving the health and quality of life of women with pelvic floor disorders. These conditions, which include bladder and bowel control problems, dropped bladder and vaginal bulging, affect millions of women. It is extremely rewarding to be able to help my patients get their lives back. At Duke, I feel very fortunate to work with a nationally recognized team of urogynecologists, urologists, physical therapists and researchers that have been providing the full spectrum of medical and surgical care for these conditions for over two decades. It is very gratifying to be able to provide multidisciplinary care that is tailored to each patient’s own problems and goals. I also have the privilege of being the chairman of the Duke Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a team of over 80 generalists and specialists dedicated to improving the health of women.
