Katy Marcum, NP

Katy Marcum, APRN began her caregiving career as registered nurse in 2010 and has been an advanced practice registered nurse since 2020. She is a certified lactation specialist and sees women of all ages, before and after pregnancy, at Saint Joseph Medical Group – Obstetrics and Gynecology. Her areas of interest in women’s health include breast and cervical cancer screening.Marcum chose her specialty because of her love for women’s health care. “My favorite part of my job is being able to care for members of our community who spend some much of their lives caring for others,” she said. “I also love being able to take care of members of the same family and see them come back through different stages of their lives.” Her approach is to provide compassionate and individualized care, and, she said, to “discuss options with the patient and come together with shared decision- making to determine best plan for them.”Marcum says she was always drawn to health care, inspired in particular by the way caregivers made a difference in the life of her late grandmother, who had breast and colon cancer. She has a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Midway University and a master’s degree specializing as a family nurse practitioner from Frontier Nursing University.Outside of work, she stays busy with her four children, enjoys outdoor activities, riding horses and reading.
