Dr. Anthony Estrera is a graduate of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas. He completed a residency in general surgery and a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Board certified in surgery and thoracic surgery, Dr. Estrera’s clinical interests include cardiac surgery, valvular heart disease, aortic aneurysms and aortic dissection. He has practiced in Houston since 1994, treating patients 18 and older. Dr. Estrera is professor and chief of cardiac surgery in the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth and medical director of Cardiovascular ICU and Cardiovascular IMU at Memorial Hermann Heart & Vascular Institute. He has received numerous professional recognitions and has authored or co-authored 26 book chapters and more than 100 articles in medical journals. His clinical interests include robotic mitral repair and replacement; robotic coronary arterial bypass; robotic MAZE procedures; robotic aortic valve replacement; right anterior thoracotomy; ascending aortic replacement and myectomies; transcatheter approaches, including transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and transcatheter mitral valve replacement (TMVR). He is also a recognized expert in surgical heart failure and transplantation, including mechanical circulatory support. Dr.Ramzy is the chief of cardiac surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston and the medical director and surgical director for the Heart & Vascular Institute at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center. Author of more than 115 peer-reviewed publications and more than 200 abstracts, he also serves as an editorial board member for The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. A fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), Dr. Gregoric is also a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, American Association for Thoracic Surgery, American Society of Artificial Internal Organs and International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation. He has published more than 400 original articles in medical journals and authored numerous book chapters. Dr. Gregoric is on the faculty of McGovern School of Medicine and serves as chief of the surgical division of the Center for Advanced Cardiopulmonary Therapies and Transplantations.
