Adam Markovitz, MD, PhD is an Assistant Professor of General Internal Medicine and a practicing general internist at the University of Michigan. Dr. Markovitz received his BS in Biology from Yale College. He earned his MD and PhD in health policy economics from the University of Michigan. He completed residency training in primary care internal medicine at the University of Michigan. He is also an elected member of Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha.Dr. Markovitz’s research focuses on payment reform, quality of care, and healthcare disparities. He aims to improve population health and reduce health care disparities by testing new models of paying for health care. His PhD dissertation on Medicare accountable care organizations was funded by an AHRQ dissertation grant and was awarded most outstanding project by the Horowitz Foundation for Social Policy. He also received the Mack Lipkin Award three times from the Society of General Internal Medicine for most outstanding presentation by a scientific trainee.
