Dr. Adam Bender is a general neurologist with a special interest in nerve and muscle diseases. He pursued his medical degree at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, followed by residency training in neurology at the Neurological Institute of New York and in internal medicine at Harlem Hospital. At the National Institutes of Health, Dr. Bender served as Clinical Associate, completing fellowship training in diseases of the nerves and muscles and acting as an original researcher in the modern treatment of myasthenia gravis. This previously devastating disease is now very treatable, and Dr. Bender received the Teacher-Investigator Award for his research.Patients visiting Dr. Bender can receive a full range of neurological care. Dr. Bender provides care for conditions including Parkinson s disease, dementia, weakness, palsy, seizures, dizziness, headache, and tumors of the brain and spinal cord. All patients are treated with respect and understanding.

His contributions to the field of Neuro-Oncology have been recognized with numerous awards, including the Preuss Award in Neuro-Oncology from the American Academy of Neurology, the Boyer Clinical Research Award from Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, and the Gary Lichtenstein Humanitarian Award from Voices Against Brain Cancer.Dr. Lassman earned his BS and MS degrees in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry, as part of a combined four-year program at Yale University. He attained his MD from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed Neurology residency at the Neurological Institute of New York, at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Dr. Lassman completed his fellowship in Neuro-Oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, where he joined the faculty and served as fellowship director, until his return to NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
