Amelia Pousson, MD, MPH, CTropMed, FACEP is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University and works clinically at Johns Hopkins Hospital and Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, MD, USA. Over the past 15 years, she has collaborated on projects with USAID, UNAIDS, the NIH, local and international NGOs and governments in Brazil, Botswana, El Salvador, Ethiopia, the Gambia, Ghana, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Jamaica, Mozambique, Oman, Rwanda, UAE and Uganda. Dr. Pousson's main research interests are exploring strategies for making emergency medicine learning accessible for all as well as the ways that, through education and training, emergency medicine practitioners can become a first-order determinant of improved patient outcomes, at all healthcare system levels and in both resource-rich and resource-restricted settings. She has specific interests in emerging infectious disease, medical education using simulation and flipped classroom models and evidence-based emergency medical provider training.
