Overview
I've always known I wanted to be a doctor. My father is a doctor and watching him help so many people made a significant impact on me. I hope I can be as beloved of a doctor as my father is, but I’ve also become my own person. In addition to medical school, I also studied engineering and theology, which formed my view of health. To me, health is not about the absence of disease. It is about preventative care where nutrition, exercise, spirituality, relationships, and community all play a role. As a dad myself, I know that choosing a pediatrician can be hard. I want you to know that, when you entrust your child’s health to my care, I am honored and understand the responsibility. We're going to have some fun too. I became a pediatrician because children have so much joy, creativity, and energy that makes work so much more enjoyable for me. When I’m not seeing patients I love to spend time with my family, build shaker furniture, and hike outdoors.

Duke Children's Health Center Kidney Transplant Clinic
I am a pediatric nephrologist and work with children with kidney disease. Some of the conditions that we see include congenital malformations of the kidney and the bladder, nephrotic syndrome, glomerulonephritis (inflammation of the kidney filters), and children who are on dialysis or who received kidney transplantation because of kidney failure. I listen carefully to parents when they bring their children to the clinic because they know their children better than any other person, and they are the best advocates for their child. I collaborate a lot with the other doctors in the clinic. Rest assured, when you visit our clinic and I am not around, the doctor who is seeing you knows everything about your child. This is a group practice with a very caring multidisciplinary team. Dr. Gbadegesin is highly rated in 8 conditions, according to our data. His top areas of expertise are Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis, Nephrotic Syndrome, Minimal Change Disease, Glomerulonephritis, and Kidney Transplant.
Duke Ambulatory Surgery Center
I look forward to going to work at Duke Health every day. I get the opportunity to help others while doing work that is stimulating and challenging each and every day. My practice covers all surgical and medical aspects of pediatric urology. Common surgical problems are correction of hypospadias, undescended testes, vesicoureteral reflux, and urinary obstruction. Medical issues include incontinence and urinary tract infections. Urological care of spina bifida is another large area of my focus. As a surgeon, I am able to use my hands and harness the creative parts of my mind toward that goal. Working with children is a joy and keeps me young and on my toes. Having three children of my own keeps me grounded and makes me individualize the plan for each patient as I would want for my own child. I feel fortunate to be at Duke where I am surrounded by brilliant colleagues and curious students. This stimulation drives me to strive to be my best and to conduct research that will benefit my own patients and similar children worldwide. Dr. Wiener is highly rated in 15 conditions, according to our data. His top areas of expertise are Myelomeningocele, Neurogenic Bladder, Neurogenic Bowel, Lithotripsy, and Reconstructive Urology Surgery.
