"My area of practice is child and adolescent psychiatry. I work with children, teens and their families to diagnose and treat emotional, behavioral and mental health concerns. ""We are all on the same team"" is my philosophy for caring for patients, acknowledging that the parent(s) and the child are experts in their own right, and teachers are important members of the team. My job is to help the team work together to find the best options for making life less challenging for the child. I work hard to reduce the stigma of mental health disorders through education and advocacy both in clinic as well as in the community. Working as a pediatric primary care nurse practitioner prior to working in psychiatry gives me a holistic approach to pediatric psychiatry. This means I use environmental, parenting and therapeutic strategies in addition to medication. Helping families and their children recognize their strengths and build upon those skills is one of my favorite parts of my job. I specialize in working with children and teens who have ADHD, autism, depression, anxiety and a variety of other mental health concerns. I am LGBTQ informed and have experience working with immigrant and Native American communities.".
