Dr. Anneliese Gonzalez

Dr. Anneliese Gonzalez earned her medical degree from the Universidad Central de Venezuela. She completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Driscoll Medical School-Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh and a fellowship in hematology and oncology at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center of Boston-Tufts University. Dr. Gonzalez, who has practiced since 1996, is board certified in three areas: internal medicine, hematology and medical oncology. Her primary clinical interest is breast cancer, a topic about which she has published several research papers in peer-reviewed journals. She regularly participates in community-based education and awareness events for breast cancer diagnosis and treatment and the role of genetic testing and counseling for patients with a family history of cancer. Her professional interests also include medical education and quality improvement projects. She is the medical director of the Memorial Hermann Cancer Center and director of the Division of Medical Oncology at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth). A member of the Susan G. Komen® Houston Medical Advisory Council, she is involved in a Komen-funded project that provides community-based screening and diagnosis services for low-income patients. In her leisure time, Dr. Gonzalez enjoys watching movies and traveling with her husband and two sons.
