Dr. Ashraf Mohammad

After receiving my M.D. and Ph.D. at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, I came to the University of Michigan for residency training in Anatomic Pathology. During my residency and subsequent Dermatopathology fellowship, I became interested in mechanistic studies of cutaneous and soft-tissue malignancies. Upon completion of my fellowship in June 2012, I accepted a faculty position at UMHS with joint appointments in the Departments of Dermatology and Pathology, in which I continue to investigate molecular events in the pathogenesis of Merkel cell carcinoma and other cutaneous malignancies, while maintaining clinical effort in dermatopathology and molecular dermatopathology. She was appointed the Director of the Ethics Path of Excellence in the University of Michigan Medical School in 2013. She became the permanent Director of the Hematopathology Section in 2016.
