Dr. Benjamin Cilento earned his undergraduate degree in biology and biochemistry at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. He graduated with a doctorate in immunology research from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. Both his internship in general surgery and his residency in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery were completed at the University of Washington in Seattle. After his residency, Dr. Cilento served as head of the Department of Otolaryngology at the Naval Hospital in Guam. He pursued additional training at Tulane University in New Orleans, and became Chief of the Division of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery for the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia. Dr. Cilento is board certified in otolaryngology and a Diplomate of the American Board of Otolaryngology and the American Board of Facial Plastic Surgery. He has won multiple awards for research and has lectured extensively in the international community. Among his primary areas of clinical interest are paranasal sinuses, breathing problems, nasal reconstruction, acute and chronic sinus disease, and head and neck surgery, especially facial aesthetics. Outside of his practice, Dr. Cilento is an accomplished artist who works in pen, ink, pastels and watercolors. He emphasizes an artistic and balanced view toward surgery, patient interaction and life in general.
