She earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Utah, followed by her medical degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. Following her education, she moved to Cooperstown, New York, for one year of internship in Internal Medicine at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital followed by three years of residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.
