Brooke L. Roberts, NP
Overview
Brooke Roberts, FNP, chose a career in nursing because she wanted to make a difference in her community. A lifelong resident of Rogersville, TN, Roberts earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from East Tennessee State University, and her Master of Science in Nursing from Tusculum University. While training to become a family nurse practitioner, Roberts was encouraged by two nurse practitioners who were her preceptors. As she watched them in practice, she was inspired by the way they combined medical expertise and human kindness to provide whole-person care. “Sometimes the most important thing you can give the patient is not the knowledge that you have, but the way you connect with the person and support them emotionally and mentally,” she said. Roberts spent several years caring for patients in the hospital, but she soon discovered her true calling in family medicine. She enjoys the clinic atmosphere, which allows the time and space to get to know each patient as an individual. Her personal philosophy for treating patients is to treat each one like family. “Think about how you would want someone to care for a member of your family, and give each patient that kind of care and attention,” she said. Outside of her medical practice, Roberts enjoys spending time with her husband and six children hiking, spending time outdoors and traveling.
