I practice in the fields of emergency medicine and palliative medicine, working in both the emergency department and inpatient setting. I work with patients in emergency situations, acute and chronic illness and end-of-life. As an emergency medicine doctor, I am often asked why I chose to subspecialize in hospice and palliative medicine. Although I truly enjoy the procedures and fast-paced nature of emergency medicine, I was drawn to the medicine and deep personal interactions inherent in palliative medicine. Through both the emergency department and palliative medicine, I enjoy, and feel honored, helping patients and families as they face some of the most difficult times in their lives. I believe that, although there are tragic events, medical conditions and societal factors that may be out of our hands, we as medical professionals can always make a positive impact in the lives of our patients and their families.
