Dr. Carlos Ramirez earned his medical degree at Universidad Catolica De Santiago de Guayaquil in Ecuador. He completed his internship and residency at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in Bronx, N.Y., and a fellowship in rheumatology at UT Health Science Center at San Antonio. Board certified in internal medicine and rheumatology, Dr. Ramirez has been in practice since 1996. He sees patients ages 18 and older. With years of experience in both rheumatology and internal medicine, Dr. Ramirez diagnoses and treats a wide range of rheumatic diseases and autoimmune disorders. He also speaks Spanish. Among his clinical interests are osteoarthritis; rheumatoid arthritis; ankylosing spondylitis; cervical, thoracic and lumbar spondylosis; psoriatic arthritis; arthritis related to inflammatory bowel disease; vasculitis of large, medium and small vessels; gout; sarcoidosis; osteoporosis; infectious arthritis; systemic lupus erythematosus; systemic sclerosis (scleroderma); Sjogren syndrome; polymyositis; dermatomyositis; and other conditions that affect muscles, joints and bones. His practice philosophy focuses on providing accessible, high-quality, personalized medical care. He takes time to understand his patients' individual needs, explain their conditions and help them make informed decisions. Outside of his practice, Dr. Ramirez is an avid enthusiast of new technology and enjoys exploring the latest gadgets. He is also a foodie, always looking for new restaurants and culinary experiences. He is the father of two grown children.
