Dr. Carolina Pinzon

Carolina Pinzon-Guzman, MD, PhD, is a pediatric surgeon in the Division of Pediatric General and Thoracic Surgery at UPMC Children’s Hospital. She is board-certified in general surgery and pediatric surgery. Dr. Pinzon-Guzman is also an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She received her undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University, followed by medical school at Pennsylvania State University where she also obtained her PhD in developmental neurobiology. She then moved to Nashville, Tennessee where she completed general surgery residency at Vanderbilt University Medical center where she also continued her research studies in developmental biology of the gastrointestinal system. Dr. Pinzon-Guzman then completed a fetal surgery clinical and research fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in Ohio followed by pediatric surgery fellowship at Montreal Children’s hospital.

Her clinical expertise encompasses Esophageal Atresia and Helicobacter Pylori Infection.

Dr. Pinzon is board certified in American Board Of Surgery and American Board Of Surgery. She is actively involved in clinical research, co-authoring 10 peer reviewed articles. Dr. Pinzon is currently accepting new patients.
