Overview
"Philosophy of care | My favorite movie is “Patch Adams,” (1998), and in it is this quote that inspired me to pursue a career in medicine: ""You treat a disease, you win, you lose. You treat a person, I guarantee you, you'll win no matter what the outcome."" I firmly believe any good relationship has to be built on trust and mutual respect – and a patient-provider relationship is no different. As a physician assistant, I will establish a rapport with you and will educate you about your condition. I believe every patient is his or her own best advocate, and as a health care provider, I will listen to the symptoms you are experiencing and then we will work together to come up with an individualized plan of care for you. | Why I entered medicine | I've known I wanted a career in medicine since I was young. Once I learned more about the physician assistant profession, it became the obvious choice for my career path. I love working as a member of a team when it comes to health care because I feel that it provides the patient with the best possible care. I am able to work with the collaborating physician to address concerns and formulate a treatment plan that works best for the patient. I also worked at a local assisted living facility for a few years before PA school and that drove me toward a career in joint replacement surgery. I love being able to truly help someone get their life back as we fix their knee or hip. Our patients are no longer sitting on the sidelines – they are able to participate in activities with their family again. | Community involvement | It is such a privilege to practice medicine in the same community I grew up in as a child. I have the opportunity to help guide people I know personally through their orthopedic care. | Personal interests | I love attending sporting events on the weekends with family and friends, both locally and down in Philly. I love to travel and explore new cities. I am very excited to get involved with the Irish Dance community again now that we have moved back to the area.".
