
Overview
A 4th generation Houstonian, Dr. David Doherty graduated from McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), where he was a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. During his residency in orthopedic surgery at McGovern Medical School, he was selected to represent the program at the American Orthopedic Association Emerging Leaders Program, and served as administrative chief resident. He completed an elective mini-fellowship in Sydney, Australia, observing the techniques of osseointegration surgery prior to completing a fellowship in adult reconstruction surgery at Duke University School of Medicine in North Carolina. Dr. Doherty specializes in hip and knee replacement surgery and performs partial and total joint arthroplasty. His clinical interests include both primary and revision hip and knee replacement. He uses customized treatment plans featuring anterior and posterior approaches to the hip, muscle-sparing approaches to the knee, and the most advanced technology, including robotic-assisted surgery, to optimize patient outcomes. An assistant professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School, Dr. Doherty continues to have his research published in scientific textbooks and national peer-reviewed journals. A member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS), he is a frequent presenter at national meetings. Dr. Doherty recently offered his surgical services on medical missions to Baghdad, Iraq, and San Salvador, El Salvador. He loves spending time at Houston’s many parks, museums and restaurants with his wife, Amy, and their three children.

Dr. Eric Klineberg received his undergraduate degree from Rice University and then a master’s degree in zoology and neural networks at the University of Maryland, before earning his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Washington Medical System in Seattle then a combined neurosurgery and orthopedic surgical spine fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio. Dr. Klineberg is board certified in orthopedic surgery. His primary clinical interests include spinal degeneration, deformity, tumor and fracture; adult and pediatric spinal deformity surgery; and cervical compression and deformity. Dr. Klineberg is committed to excellence in surgical care with an emphasis on communication, compassion and empathy. He strives to treat each patient as he would like himself or a family member to be treated. A professor and vice chair in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, Dr. Klineberg serves as Chief of Orthopedic Spine Surgery and holds the Milton “Chip” Routt Endowed Chair of Spinal Surgery. His research, teaching and clinical activity have earned Dr. Klineberg an international reputation in spinal deformity surgery. Author of over then 300 publications and book chapters, he also edited Adult Lumbar Scoliosis, A Clinical Guide to Diagnosis and Management and is a principal or co-principal investigator for more than a half-dozen clinical studies. His major research interests are enhancement of spinal fusion with stem cells and proteins and spinal deformity and outcomes. He serves on the board of directors of the Scoliosis Research Society and on the executive committee of the International Spine Study Group. He is also the North American Chair of AO Spine, a global academic community that promotes excellence in education, research, patient care and outcomes.
