Overview
Geriatrician David Hurwitz, medical director of the Beacham Center for Geriatric Medicine at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, specializes in age-friendly primary care for adults age 65 and older. Dr. Hurwitz earned his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He completed residency training at Johns Hopkins Bayview, where he remained for fellowship training in geriatric medicine and gerontology. Dr. Hurwitz also has a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Yale University and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School. Before attending medical school, he worked in marketing and product development at Genzyme Corporation and at the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation, where he was a policy analyst and the director of delivery system demonstrations. His research interests include primary care, geriatrics, Medicare and Medicaid policy, patient-centered design and primary care innovation. His passion is providing high-value care at an individual and system level to help older adults maintain their functional and personal goals.
