Overview
Originally from Anderson, Alaska Dawna moved to Grand Junction, Colorado to attend Colorado Mesa University. After obtaining her a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Dawna worked in the Neuro Trauma ICU at St. Mary?s Hospital for the next 15 years. She went on to become an ICU charge nurse, Nurse Clinical Educator at Colorado Mesa University and serve as a flight nurse with St. Mary?s flight team. These opportunities lead her to seek a master's of Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner from Walden University.
Dawna is passionate about getting to know about her patient?s lives, not just their diagnosis. Her philosophy of life comes from Nhat Hanh, ?The way you speak to others can offer them joy, happiness, self-confidence, hope, trust, and enlightenment. Mindful speaking is a deep practice.?
When she is not working Dawna enjoys spending time with her family, hiking in the paradise of Colorado, reading, playing piano and trail running.
