Deepa Burman, MD, FAASM, is a board-certified pediatric sleep medicine specialist and co-director of the Pediatric Sleep Evaluation Center at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. She is also an associate professor of pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.Dr. Burman is directly involved in the patient care, education, and quality improvement initiatives of the Pediatric Sleep Evaluation Program. She received her medical degree from the University College of Medical Sciences in, Delhi, India and received residency training at UPMC Shadyside Family Medicine Residency Program. She completed a one-year Sleep Medicine Fellowship at the UPMC Montefiore Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine. Before her appointment at UPMC Children's Hospital, she worked as a consultant and faculty at UPMC McKeesport Family Medicine Residency Program where she identified gaps in management of patients with sleep disorders in a primary care setting.Dr. Burman has also been instrumental in disseminating sleep medicine knowledge regionally, nationally, and internationally.
