
Dr. Eithan Kotkowski
Overview
Born in El Paso, Texas, Dr. Eithan Kotkowski was raised bilingual and bicultural on both sides of the U.S.–Mexico border. Growing up near the Franklin Mountains, he developed an early love for the outdoors, film, and the sciences. In high school, he studied abroad in the Kingdom of Eswatini in Southern Africa, where his interests in psychology, storytelling, and medicine converged. While there, he documented the experiences of mothers living with HIV and their approaches to caring for their children—an experience that solidified his decision to pursue medicine.
Dr. Kotkowski earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Neuroscience from The University of Texas at Austin. He completed an eight-year MD/PhD through the South Texas Medical Scientist Training Program at UT Health San Antonio, earning a PhD in Neuroscience Imaging and an MD with distinction in Medical Humanities. He remained at UT Health San Antonio for neurology residency, graduating with distinction in clinical education.
In 2025, Dr. Kotkowski joined Gonzaba Medical Group as a General Neurologist and Associate Director of Research and Education. He is a published researcher and adjunct assistant professor of Neurology and Medical Spanish at UT Health San Antonio. His clinical interests include dementia, migraines, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, and complex neurological disorders.
His clinical expertise encompasses Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease, Dementia, Lewy Body Dementia (LBD), and Vascular Dementia.
He is actively involved in clinical research, co-authoring 7 peer reviewed articles.
