Dr. Elizabeth E. Davis

Colleen Ditro is a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), certified nurse practitioner, and the lead Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) for the orthopedics, pain and wound care teams at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children. She is on the medical advisory board of the Little People of America, is the camp nurse for Camp Seneb, a summer camp for children with skeletal dysplasia, and teaches nursing students as an adjunct faculty member at West Chester University. She’s been a pediatric nurse since 1987, and is a past board member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and the Pediatric Orthopaedic Practitioners Society (POPS). Colleen joined Nemours in 2004, and earned Nurse of the Year honors for all of Nemours in 2013. I have wanted to be a pediatric nurse since I was 16 years old, when my brother passed away from leukemia. His nurses took such great care of him, I knew what I wanted to do with my life.  I jumped at the chance to join the skeletal dysplasia team at Nemours. I saw that it was an opportunity to be part of a close-knit team and something I could jump into whole-heartedly. I really feel passionate about taking care of the families and children we see. I’m passionate about providing high-quality care to families — family-centered care, where we make sure the whole family is included and provided for. Our families often come quite a distance for care and I want to make sure they leave feeling it was worth the trip, that everything fell into place for them and they’re satisfied with the care they got.  I’m also passionate about nurses. I teach nursing at West Chester University, and do all I can to help them become great nurses and know how to provide high-quality care for families and children. I really try to help families in our skeletal dysplasia program connect with resources and with other families with similar conditions and circumstances. We have families from all over the world, so if I can make the connection for a family on the west coast, for instance, with another family of a child with a similar condition in their part of the world, they don’t have to feel like they’re out there by themselves. Shawn Standard, MD is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon at Nemours Children’s Hospital, Florida in Orlando. Prior to this he was head of pediatric orthopedics at the International Center for Limb Lengthening, Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics, Sinai Hospital of Baltimore since 2008 and a pediatric orthopedic surgeon there since 2003. He was previously on staff in the department of pediatric orthopedics at Nemours Children's Health, Jacksonville in Florida.Dr. Standard is actively involved in medical innovation and research. He has co-developed several medical devices and apps. His contributions to the field have been recognized with numerous awards, including being named a Top Doctor inBaltimore Magazinefor 10 years in a row and the Maryland General Assembly Innovator of the Year.Dr. Standard has been an invited lecturer and an active researcher, and has co-authored numerous book chapters and articles in peer-reviewed journals. He was the principal author of a book on limb alignment and has been involved in several video productions on various orthopedic topics. He is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, Limb Lengthening and Reconstruction Society: ASAMI-North America and Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America. Dr. Bruce Levy is a board-certified orthopedic and sports medicine surgeon with Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute. He is the academic chief of Sports Medicine and director of the institute’s Sports Medicine Surgical Fellowship program. About Dr. Levy Prior to joining Orlando Health, Dr. Levy practiced at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where he served as a professor and orthopedic surgeon in the Division of Sports Medicine and Adult Reconstruction. He also was the program director for the Mayo Clinic Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship and the principal investigator for several multi-center trials funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Defense. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in orthopedic surgery and orthopedic sports medicine. His professional memberships include the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy Association of North America and International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopedic Sports Medicine. Recognized as an international expert, Dr. Levy has chaired hundreds of symposia and instructional course lectures on complex knee and hip injuries. He is a consultant for the NBA and NHL Players Associations, a past team physician for the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association and is currently the chief medical officer for the United Football League’s (UFL) Orlando Storm. Dr. Levy is a reviewer and editorial board member for numerous medical journals, and he has published more than 350 papers in scientific literature. He lectures extensively nationally and internationally and has been named one of the nation’s top doctors multiple times by Castle Connolly.
